oh wow

I just saw these tights on The Olive Shoppe, and they got me so excited I just had to share them.

I want them so bad.

restyling // shirt to skirt

Remember that time my dad gave my sister and I his old button-downs? Last week, while hyped up on tea, I decided to turn it into a skirt. I had originally wanted to make it smaller to fit me, but it was so huge that if I altered the sides, the pocket would end up under my armpit. No bueno.

So one morning, without the help of pattern, tutorial, person, or correct sewing techniques, I started sewing. I didn't even measure anything and none of my seams are aligned, so it is a wonder I can even wear it.

I put on some music:

I am so proud of myself for using my sewing machine, if only for some parts. Of course I broke the needle and had to continue without it, but it's a start. Without it I would have certainly taken three years.

The shirt after the ripping. I've got to hand it to YSL, they sure do know how to make a shirt. Taking this apart was hard work.

And voila! There's my morning face for you all.

It's very odd in some places, but it's a cutie. And I am Very Proud.

(I just researched and there are tons of tutorials on the internet for men's shirt refashions. I don't know why I attempted to do this all on my own. Look here or here or here or here.)

ASOS Spring Collection '11

I have no words. I will just bask in the beauty of it all.

Yes, I did just spend an inordinate amount of time making these collages and browsing their website when I should totally be working. Oops.

ugly christmas sweater t-shirt

Vardagen is genius. They have made the Ugly Christmas Sweater T-Shirt. It's all the wonderful of an ugly Christmas sweater, without the itchy. I don't know about you, but I think I need one of each.

saturdays are great

Okay, look at this:

Scissors. Scissors. Obviously I must have them.
There are more pretty things at Snoozer Loser (that birdcage skirt is equally amazing).

boots of wonder

Free People has the nicest things.
I'm lusting after all of these.

And yes, I am going to remain blithely unaware of the fact that they cost 8,000 pesos each. Let me have my happiness.

sigh

My little sister's blogger account is all new and cool, and I can't get mine to be cool like hers. I've tried and I've tried and I've tried, and now I am tired.

Sniff.

Oh well.

Today I drew a superhero.

And then of course my sister wanted her own:
I gave her stripy socks.

I think tomorrow I'll re-draw and paint them.

Also, the other other day I made a hat. I wanted to copy Elsie's. It's kind of similar, so yay.
The problem: I just made it up and now I can't remember how to make it again. Shame.

I had fun with the timer that shoots eight photos in like, the blink of an eye. Okay, not really. But it felt like that.

(See my 20 peso plaid making an appearance? Yeah-huh. Thrift shops forever.)

refashion

Remember that ugly shirt I was telling you about? It had funny 3/4 sleeves and a neckline that kind of looked like one on a men's undershirt in the Spanish colonial times. It choked me.

Anyway, I snipped away at it (that on the left is one of the dratted sleeves):

And I fixed it!

I put a really large bow on the front, because I've always wanted a blouse with one. It's so green, I was afraid I would look like I was dying of consumption, but it looks okay.

I am a happy girl.

Now I just need to work up the courage to wear tanktops again.

{elizabeth}

Elizabeth Dye's Spring wedding dress collection is making me weak-kneed. It's gorgeous.

I think I'll get married in this last one, which, incidentally, is called Persuasion.

Oh my.

Well, I'm off to find my husband, then.
