pages and pages

Here's a little tour of our attic, in case you wanted to see it. These are only a few of our shelves (or lack of them). I'm currently reading A Swiftly Tilting Planet, by Madeleine L'Engle.
What are your favorites? I'm looking for something new to read. Always.

I have to get back to work, making my entry for a t-shirt contest. I forgot just how hard it is to paint on t-shirts. I've been scowling at my work for the last half-hour. The deadline is Sunday. EEP. I have this horrid habit of leaving things right up to the last moment, mostly because I overthink every single thing, and never get anything done. I need to hurry it up.

One more thing: How can it be Friday already? There must be something wrong; the world is turning much too fast.

pico de loro

Someone invited us to the beach on Sunday, and I took my instax along.

I like the fact that you only have one chance, one window to take a photo. I like the fact that I can hold the memory in my hand. It's sort of magical.

when things go wrong, they all go wrong

Yesterday my glasses broke, and I'd thrown out my contacts the day before. Ina's electric fan conked out. The PC stopped working.

Sigh.

But today's another pretty morning. My dad taped my frame together*, Ina used a back-up electric fan, and the repair people replaced the button on the computer.

It'll all be all right in the end.

* I was standing there in shock when they broke, looking hopefully toward the door just in case Hermione would show up with her wand, roll her eyes, briskly say, "Reparo," and everything would be all right. But alas.
We live in a sad world.

I am so full.

Food is the love of my life.

Next to, you know, watercolor paper and Lee Pace.

*sly smile*

wind and waves

I'm going to the beach tomorrow, so I'm going to pack, and listen to Right Away, Great Captain, and then go downstairs with The Jungle Book (the book) and eat a bunch of sandwiches since I don't sleep anymore.

finally friday

I've been working on packages. I'm pretty sure these two don't read this blog, so it will still be a surprise when they get their mail.

I am so proud of my narwhal notepad.

a) Narwhals are real.
b) They are not mythical creatures.
c) Narwhals are the unicorns of the ocean.

thursday's date

Pen and ink. Digital color.
I know, it's kind of awful. I just wanted to try it out. I'd have watercolored it, only I just know the scanner will spoil it all. So sad.
This is for Ina, because I asked her, "What if you had dates every day of the week?"
He's a redhead, just for you.

I've been listening to this all day.

musics

My little sister and I spent most of Saturday doing this.
We did it in about, oh, 250 takes. Haha.
Have fun laughing at us.

Oh, and ukuleles are the best little things.

on the radio

My sister and I are trying to do a cover of Regina Spektor's "On The Radio". We're getting there. Ina's trying to hone her egg-shaker skills, so we're limping along. Ha. I love Regina.

I found this old painting I did. Singing hamsters, aren't they swell?

And the other night I felt reckless and impulsive and I painted my Holga pink, kind of like Elsie's (I put her little blog button right there on the sidebar). I used acrylic, so I could probably just peel it all off. Which is good, because I'm seriously regretting the pinkness of it all.
Now I'm going to get back to my work, and think about what to send in my packages to some awesome people, namely Katie, J.D., and Becca.

P.S. I think I won't accept any more penpal requests, as I am SWAMPED. I mean, I love making things, forever and ever, but I simply can't afford the postage.

P.P.S Who has two thumbs and a pack of Fuji Instax film? *points to herself* THIS GIRL. I love mah daddy! He is the best.

drawing

I've been reading Mistress Pat for the gazillionth time.

I love her.

I tried to digitally color her in, my, but it was hard.
And I suck at it.
But I shall practice.

A lot. Practice a lot.

well hello

Saturday again. I feel like Christmas is right around the corner, at the rate the days are whooshing past.

Panic ensues.

My little sister was clamoring for a crocheted bow to wear to dance class:

I made flower chains for my other sister's pretty head. It felt like being children again, sucking the nectar out of the stems.

I found a small collection of shells in my closet. I don't know what I was planning to do with them, but I spent the morning arranging them into various, well, arrangements.
The driftwood is my favorite.

I made a cupcake hat (better photos to come), and Ina couldn't resist wearing it while eating her chicken noodle soup.

She's reading one of my favorite books, Mistress Pat by L.M. Montgomery, and I've recently convinced y mother to start reading this one:

It's called The King In The Window, by Adam Gopnik, and it's lovely. The book cover is so gorgeous, you would not believe.

Here's to the weekend!

airmail

My mailing list will be the death of me.

I love giving out things, I really do, but postage is running low. Coupled with a sudden increase in penpal requests, an inability to say no, having too-grand mailing plans, and no money, I am sadly very behind.

lookit!

I put some links on the right sidebar. It looks pretty terrible and I think I'll change them again this week, but they'll do for now.

The cat goes to the blog/shop I have with my mom and little sisters. It hearts handmade. Funny to have a actual factual website for it now. I feel intimidated by my own self.

The bunny links to my little sister's blog, which she only just started. If you go leave her an encouraging comment, maybe she won't abandon it again. Hah. Rabbits are a thing she adores.

And then there are links to my flickr and twitter. Like, you know, normal people have.

In other news,

I made another hat. Kind of just made it up as I went along and didn't write it down, thus completely forgetting it, in that endearing way I have. Must work on that, because I love this hat and now I have to sell it.

My closet is in an atrocious state.

A box that held a penpal package. Me and you both, Ellie.

Today we have a wake to attend, and I have a gazillion photos to scan, and a TON of stuff to put in the shop (that's the cat) (the cat link) (yes)

colored pencils

Hi. It's one of those lovely Saturday mornings, where I get to wake up late and then do anything I want. Aah, freedom.

I'm making some tags for some things I'm sending out today, from our shop. I'd forgotten I owned colored pencils! Hahaha.

I have my music on shuffle. That's the difference between me and my sister, I love to shuffle my music, she likes to listen to the same songs for hours on end. There are some songs I used to love, that right now I can't stand, all because of her. Haha. Here's what just came up on shuffle:

I think I'll:
  • make myself a sandwich
  • finish sewing some brooch things
  • make myself another sandwich
  • take a nap
  • probably make another sandwich.
Every day I am genuinely surprised that I am not yet overweight.

oh hey oh hey oh hey

I just realized I say that a lot. Rapidly and in succession.
Oh, hey.

(Those are my feet being joyous.)

I love all the FreePeople newsletters I get in my email, they're all so pretty, all the time.

(from here)

I'm thinking this trash can should be in my house. Okay, room, whatever.

"The horn with a heck of a honk."
I don't have a bike, but it would work pretty well without one, I think. I'll go around, honking at people in the mall or on the sidewalk... Perfect.

My sister made the best shirt ever.

And, um, I just found out that my papercuts were featured on this super lovely girl's blog and on here and here.

I love See Hear Say! And Design is Mine! I can't breathe, I really can't.

This Friday is full of Friday-ness, and I love it.
